I moved from FL to NC. Have now paid off the vehicle in NC and want a title. They tell me I have to go to Florida to get it? And the lienholder is in North Carolina. I bought the vehicle in NC, the lienholder is in NC, Im have NC tags and NCdrivers license, why is Florida involved at all?

  1. Call your leinholder again and find out why they are not releasing the title to you. It makes no sense for you to have to go to another state to pick up your title. If they say the title is in FL and you lived in CA, would you be expected to go to FL to pick it up?

Get the address and phone # of the FL place that has your title. Call FL and demand that they release the title to you (by mail) and if they won't do that, tell them that you will lodge a complaint with FL state atty office.
