I'm not intending to say anything against those who are not capable of buying these cars. All I want is for the gov't to make it a necessity and thus make more affordable for the average joe.

  1. How many people can afford new Flex fuel cars? How many drive what they have because it's all they can afford? How many deal with the choice between fuel for their car and food? Think before you speak please.

"Walk a mile in my shoes before you criticize me for being barefoot"

  2. I'm not. Actually I'm disgusted that we'd rather bow to corperate interests (oil companies) than work towards making the planet a better place for our children.

  3. Its not the government's job. If you want to see alternative fuels get the government out of the way and private industry will develop new fuels as it becomes profitable. Its already happening on a small scale. If these small companies find financial success, big companies will get involved.

  4. when the price of fuel becomes too high the other sources will get bigger... why go away from the cheapest best fuel [[[yes i mean oil]

  5. It would be easy to make alternate forms of energy attractive.  All the government would have to do is increase the tax on gasoline by, say, $3 per gallon.  The trouble is that would be political suicide.

  6. ummmm we are in Iraq fighting for less harmful stuff to the enviroment duh! also the government is helping the fuel issuse 2 so dont be hating on america if u really cared about the fuel issuse then instead of writing this questions u should be doing something about it

  7. Every Republican, basically, and most Fundamentalists of any faith.  People who don't want to evolve.

  8. In a free society, the government is not supposed to make anything a necessity.  This would amount to the government telling private citizens what they must do as opposed to allowing them the free choice to do what seems best for them.  However, you are misinformed about the government not making alternative fuel a necessity (i.e. mandatory).  There is currently a renewable fuels mandate on the books that requires a that a certain percentage of all fuels sold in the U.S. be from renewable sources (e.g. ethanol, bio-diesel).  This government intrusion on the free market has resulted in higher fuel prices and higher food prices, but what do you care?

  9. I'm not in America, but realise that biofuel (oil from crops) is really a problem because of the global food shortage. More land spent growing crops to make biofuel, less crops grown to eat. Since there are many areas that have been in drought over the last few years (parts of Europe, US, Australia) it is an issue.

There needs to be a transition period from oil to other sources (natural gas, solar, geothermal, wind, hydro, wave action...) but we will need oil in the long term anyway. Did you know a lot of pharmaceutical drugs need petroleum to be made?  And plastics.

It should've been started in the 1980's when it was brought up (greenhouse effect as it was called then), but it is 25 years too late, so the measures will be more drastic.

Oil prices will sky rocket from now on in because China and India have growing wealth populations who demand Western lifestyles. Alternative energy taking a big slice of the pie is inevitable - invest now!

  10. Maybe I should ?

Thanks to you, a small country like Germany is in control of 60% of the Wind industry worldwide and 60% of the solar photovoltaic industry worldwide, 2 major sources of power for the future. The renewables already created so many jobs here and it will keep growing. We have an excellent position for the future and we all have it to thank to your president who even cut the budget of the NREL (US national renewable energy lab). Thanks.

  11. I AM VERY PROUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is not the goverment's place you Socialist. It is the market's place. When gas get's high enough "socer moms" will quit whine'n about it while buy'n 3/4 ton SUV's and look for something else. You and Hilary need to find a little island some where and start your own little cuntry with you own little goverment and tell us all how it works out for you. For now this is still the home of the FREE.

  12. What does the government have to do with it?

"Environmentalists" and the liberal media killed our nuclear power programs. The public has up to now refused to drive fuel efficient cars because relative to incomes, fuel has been cheap.

The Public has also rejected the use of Wind & Solar in the past because it has also been much more expensive than conventional power.

Unlike many other countries, the "Government" in the U S is "US". Our repesentatives will do what their voting constituents demand.

  13. hellooooooo, that's what Iraq and Iran are for

  14. I am for one.  Its the reason why Europeans moved here in the first place, because they wanted less government.

  15. Honestly i don't see very much to be proud about in the Us government lately.

  16. How do you propose making it a necessity?  Do you propose a ban on gasoline and oil based diesel?
