  1. definitely Rafa, and Federer the number 1

  2. Federer/Shavapova--or sometimes Ivanovic.

  3. Federer/Venus....if the question was who HAD the best in the game...Agassi/Graf...hands down

  4. all time borg. Nowadays mens nadal. womens  ivanovic. Hope this helps

  5. men: roddick, federer, nadal

    womens: venus and serena

  6. Rafael Nadal

    Venus Williams

  7. i think for mens it was Goran Ivanisevic cause of his amazing height and for womens Sharapova

  8. Federer

  9. men:verdasco

    women:vaidisova

  10. right now, its nadal and federer. but i think roger is the best overall and the greatest all time!!!.PERIOD.

  11. Roger Federer. He can hit all sorts of angles in all sorts of situations. Also his movement for his forehand is awsome  and hits powerful inside out or outside in. Nadal can do it too but im a federer fan so i think nadal sucks.

Womens Venus Williams, she won the Wimbledon title and lots more, her skills are way above ivonavic.

  12. In times past, there were quite a number of players that had a stunning forehand but virtually no backhand whatsoever.    A typical player of this type used an extreme 'Western' grip (the carpet beater grip), and the shift to a realistic backhand grip was simply too great.   (Many of the lesser players of this type made NO change, and simply hit a backhand with the racquet's other face.  Always a defensive pat!)

The good players of this type had an amazing ability to run around the backhand.   I suspect left handers are disproportionately represented in this group?   Paradoxically, a number of these forehand-dominant types were fantastic volleyers, using an orthodox backhand grip for all volleys!

Mervyn Rose, a  former Australian Championship winner, was an immensely talented player with an astounding ability to avoid hitting backhands, sound volleying technique, a useful service, and a devastating forehand.  His backhand drive was a feeble slice.

On a good day, Rose's forehand is as good a shot of this type as one could wish to see.   Had he been less 'lazy' in training (he resented Hopman's bullying?), it is hard to say just how successful he would have been.

John Newcomb's orthodox forehand was a really reliable stroke, and I have never seen a better forehand than his.

A player who rarely played a backhand was 'Pancho' Segura.   His forehand was of the Roddick type, but was even more devastating.   Segura was a baseliner, and, as he aged, the extra running he needed to do to avoid backhands became a liability he couldn't often overcome, but I have never seen a better forehand than his.

Because of his ability to disguise direction, ability to change direction, and for his generally immaculate accuracy, I imagine Federer is the current player with the best forehand.   Safin, on a good day, is every bit as good.   Roddick is good as well, but hardly subtle.

  13. On mens side, one would have to include Federer. Along with him though, I put Ferrer, Stepanek, Djokovic, and even Nadal for he puts so much spin on it, along with fair share of power.

ON Womens side, no doubt when healthy, The Williams Sisters, despite the errors. Also have Ivanovic, Dementieva, Davenport, and the one to start to notice closely, Kleybanova.

  14. womens  i would say ivanovic, and maybe sharapova.

male i would say now nadal, although safin when he is on form his forehand is very strong and powerful

  15. monfils when he hits through the ball... ahem world record Australian open  forehand winner at 190 kph

    and sania mirza... awsimo

  16. Monfils or Nadal < Men

    > They know how to place it

    Sharapova < Women

    > Don't really watch Women's but last time I watched her she was good

  17. I would have to agree with you on both. Roger Federer has the best forehand in tennis and Ana Ivanovic has a great forehand in tennis

  18. Its between Federer and Nadal. I would say Nadal because of his crazy angles and huge spin, but sometimes he has a tendency to hit too short, and should flatten it out on hardcourts. So I think Federer has the slight edge.

  19. Men's: Roddick & Nadal

    Women's: Sharapova & V. Williams

  20. Roger Federer

    Lindsay Davenport

Rafa Nadal is very close-What he can do with his is unbelievable and it never breaks down.

  21. since so many picked the obvious I'll go with sumthin diff

    Gonzo/Safin/Tsonga

Gonzo has great spin and depth on his balls

Safin has just so much power

Tsonga just simply paints the lines with his

    Ivanovic and Williams sisters

Ivanovoc same as gonzo and the Williams are the Williams

  22. gonzalious, or whatever his name was, has the best forehand. its the fastest in the world.

  23. Men: Federer

Why: Consistant, and he can place it on a dime. In tight situations, he still has the same smooth stroke and that's what usually gets him out of tight spots.

    Women:Ivanovic

Why: You know it, most women hit flat, and yes, so does Ivanovic. But just like I said above, it is her bread and butter shot. It is so powerful and so usefull when she is down. She goes for her forehand, and not waiting for her opponent to mess up.

Oh, & that is really my opinion on the best forehands right now. Not just because you mentioned it.

I would have picked Henin, but seeing as she is now retired. Before she did that though, I thought she was one of the best players in the game.

  24. Men- Gael Monfils has a great powerful forehand that can hit the lines any day, any where.

Women- Sharapova's forehand is pretty good.

  25. Roger Federer.  When he hits the cross court forehand, it leaves other players stunned. Even Nadal.  I think he had changed it to play on clay, which I think in turn slowed down his game. I'm hoping he gets back to using his old swing, because people said it was unbelievable.

  26. federer- he can pound it down the line from any position

serena williams- she has so much topspin and power that opponents get overwhelmed by the velocity.
