In 1959, Seeds of double  hybrids from USA were imported as in USA maize crop was  giving very yields This project was taken in collaboration Agriculture adviser to the technical cooperation mission of USA. But this project failed in India as none of the seeds from USA succeed in India to produce expected yields. It was DR. RAMESHWAR SINGH, the then Maize and Millet Specialist, at Dholi-Pusa Centre,  with his fruitfull efforts become successfull in introducing cross hybrids of maize in India & this crossed hybrids grow to give high yields in India.
