  2. Unknown given there's been skating clubs for the past 300 years, but Jackson Haines introduced the modern form of figure skating with figure eights as the main focus of the sport.

    Irving Brokaw introduced European skating to the US which had slumped into an outdated style in the early 1900's.

  4. In short, it's unknown who actually  "discovered" ice skating . . . as it was widely used as transportation over ice - back in time - in Europe. The first skates found dates back to 3000bc, in Switzerland . . . made of bone and leather straps.
