I don't think one person invented asphalt as it occurs naturally.

"Asphalt occurs naturally in both asphalt lakes and in rock asphalt" It was also first used thousands of years ago "The first recorded use of asphalt as a road building material was in Babylon around 625 B.C." So I'm not sure if you'll find what you are looking for. There are a lot of innovators who improved asphalt but no one real inventor.
