  4. It is a little known fact that pants were invented by Joseph Trouserski, a Polish tailor and refugee who arrived in France after walking across Europe. When he arrived at the border, the French customs agents could not pronounce his name properly, but they did notice that he was out of breath from walking so far. They simply wrote down "Joseph Pants" because he was panting so hard.

Soon Joseph arrived in Paris, where he set up a small tailoring business. Naturally, he named the shop "Joseph Trouserski" since that was his real name. At the time, the streets of Paris were extremely dusty and most of the residents had a real problem with dust and mud clinging to their stockings. Joseph realized this was a problem and took an everyday robe and sewed it together up the middle, to keep the dust from blowing up underneath.

He demonstrated his new "Trouserskis" on the sidewalks of Paris and they soon became very popular, although the people of France still had trouble pronouncing his name. They simply called the new clothes "trousers".

The King of France heard about the new fashion in town and arranged to have Joseph summoned before him to demonstrate the new clothing. When the king's guards did a background check on Joseph, they discovered that his official name was Joseph Pants. He was introduced to the king by this name. So as not to anger the king, Joseph presented the king his first pair of "pants", direct from the inventor.

To this day, this piece of clothing is known as either pants or trousers.

    And I'm not kidding.
