The native Americans, they believed that corn kernals had demons inside of them, and that putting them in a fire would cause the kernal to explode as the demon was "killed?" "exercised?", and they thought that to be the cause of what we call popcorn. They enjoyed it immensely, though its strange that they would eat what they thought were old demon "houses"
