Well, that completely depends on your definition of the computer. The computer was invented theoretically far before the electronic computer was built. Computability theory was started by Alan Turing and Alonzo Church, although people probably thought of computers themselves before that. If you count something like the abacus as a computer, the computer is thousands of years old. I do know that the first general purpose digital computer was the Intel 4004 microprocessor though.
