Everyone says Thomas Eddison, but there are ancient drawings in Egyptian Pyramids showing light bulbs also showing they used jars containing copper and steel rods in acid which actually works to produce electricity to power a light bulb, so how can we give this patent to Mr Eddison when it was invented thousands of years ago, just forgotton about?

  1. Nope.  It wasn't even the Egyptians, and there weren't pictures.  What you're recalling was the discovery in Mesopotamia of what might conceivably be a battery if you use your imagination.  The theory is that the thing was used in some sort of electroplating process, though no electroplated items have been discovered.  It's a tempting theory, for it would explain where alchemy came from: an object that's been plated with gold (or perhaps brass, which is easier) will look like it has been turned into gold.  But there's nothing else to support the idea.

  2. Actually - There is still controversy regarding who is responsible for the modern light bulb - Thomas Edison or Joseph Swan. There is literally scores of books about the history of the light bulb that delve into this...

  3. Thomas Edison invented the fluerescent lught bulb i think but someone else invented the first light bulb, he improved it so it would be brighter and last longer.

  4. The question should be, who first made a reliable light bulb, AND PATENTED IT FOR COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION.

The answer then, would be Thomas Edison. Even if it were true the ancient Egyptians had light bulbs and cells to produce the electricity to power them (which I personally doubt), they didn't have a patent office to patent them in, nor commercial production plants. Production plants came along with the INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION.

  5. Thomas Edison made the first real light bulb but the egyptian although the made it first in ancient times, they couldnt get the credit because no one was there to take the lightbulb from the egyptians thus making thomas the first one to create the lightbulb even though the egyptians did it first

  6. Earliest recorded Light was by Sir Humphry Davy, it used a platinum filliment
