  1. Came into use when Richard  went tumbling down the track at Darlington and his arm came out of the window.

  2. I'm WAY off but I think Richard Petty????

  3. The first window nets were used in the ASA.But after Richard Petty rolled at Darlington NASCAR made it optional,up to that point the cars still had roll up windows.

Forms of the window nets were used on road coarses(Riverside after a couple of deaths in one race where the drivers heads hit the tire barriers or walls.)

But after Pettys wreck the saftey  was the concern so late 60's and early 70's it went from optional to mandatory.

  4. Joe Wethrley because if they had a window net he wouldnt of been killed

  5. Richard Petty's wife hand-made it for his car, to keep his arms in during roll-overs. NASCAR saw it was a good thing so made them standard.

  6. Richard Petty's accident.

  7. NASCAR actually but Richard Petty helped develop it.
