Question:

Who invented the heart (shape and concept)?

Phrases like "I love you with all my heart", seriously, what is that supposed to mean? Who said that our feelings and emotions are processed in the heart and not the brain? Isn’t "I love you with all my brain" the correct way to say it?

Also, the shape of the heart that we all draw, buy items with it on it, or simply recognize everywhere has nothing to do with the organ responsible for pumping blood. Albeit some people claim that is just a real heart inverted.

  1. Aristotle WAS in fact one of the first known people to have said that the heart was where our emotions were stored. This is where the phrases that you mentioned have possibly come from. That being said, the shape of the "heart" that we see on Valentine's cards and when we doodle our love's name in it and things like that, is believed to have come from several different places. Some believe that it is was a way for men to express their love for women because of our shape. (the shape of our busts, pubic region, and butt) Others believe that in 7,000 BC the first birth control pills (which were actually just a seed of a poisionous plant) were in the shape of a heart and this is where the shape came from. There are various answers and beliefs behind the "heart". If you want to know more about it, there are several books about it, or articles on the web. Have fun learning! lol
