  4. Vinton Cerf is usually given credit as creator. He was one of the developers of the TCP/IP protocol for ARPANet. ARPANet was the forerunner of the Internet.

What and where is it? I'm sure someone else can do it, but I'm not up for summarizing it at the moment. Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet

  5. I would say the US military invented it, or at least was the first to have it, use it, and slightly develop it.  It developed at an exponential pace when it was released for everyone to use, and the private enterprise system of the free world got the fast pace technological improvements in computers and internet to happen.

  6. No one in particular invented the internet. It is all over the place being a network of computer.

  7. I've got news for all you conspiracy folks who use to internet the spread your notions that the federal government is out to get you -- the internet was invented by the U.S. Department of Defense. That's right, it was originally developed as a means for people doing defense-related research to keep each other apprised of their progress and to share information when necessary.

Type 'arpanet' into your favorite search engine and see what kind of results you get.

  8. Al Gore made it but putting tubes under the surface of the earth that connected all the computers
