  1. It is hard to say: first example of mirror found in Anatolia and made by polished obsidian stone, are dated around 6000 BC (8000 years ago!) . Bronze mirrors were made in China since 2000 BC, and diffused in Egypt, Greece, Rome. The first glass and metal layer mirrors were made under Rome Empire , probably in Sido (Lebanon)  at the beginning of the first century AD

First optical effect mirrors were studied and made by Arabic physicists Ibn Sahl and Ibn  Al Haytham in the 10th/11th century.

Later mercury-tin alloy layer on glass mirror were made in Venice from the 16th century. Production was later industrialized by French company Saint Gobain

The first silvered glass modern mirror was made in 1835 by German chemist Justus Von Liebig (the same who invented the broth / stock cubes or beef extract - he established the companies  Oxo and Liebig- and nitrogen fertilizers)
