Who invented wakeboarding?

Does anyone know who invented it or when? and how did you find out?

  2. It was invented by surfers around 10 years ago because wating for perfect conditions was boring and could take for ever.  There was no real one inventor but HO sports takes credit for making the first wakeboard.  They later became HYPERLITE WAKE MFG.  best wakeboards ever.
