The American Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the US Triple Crown 1946, Assault, was foaled on the26th of March 1943. The Triple Crown champion was foaled at King Ranch in Texas where he was described as being “on the delicate side” by his jockey Eddie Arcaro. The stallion was sired by the winner of Preakness Stakes and Kentucky Derby Bold Venture out of the mare Igual.
