Who is B.B in the story Death note?

BB (Beyond Birthday) is not in Death Note. He is the star of the Death Note novel called 'Death Note: Another Note. The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases' which takes place a few years before Kira's reign. B was the second child at Wammy's House (following A who killed himself because the stress of living up to L was too much).

B was born with the Shinigami eyes and had always wanted to beat L so he used his eyes to create a case that L could not solve. In order to create the impossible case, he murdered 3 people and left intricate clues. He was almost successful in surpassing L but Naomi Misora (who L employed for help on the case) figured him out and arrested him.

It is implied that B looks almost exactly like L (but we know he uses makeup to get that way) and he loves strawberry jam. He also goes by the alias 'Rue Ryuzaki' throughout the novel. It's a good book. I read it twice.
