Who is Keres in Soul Caliber 3?

I came across an NPC named Keres today while playing Soul Caliber 3 for the ps2.

The instructions were to "beat the enemy before time runs out. What happens next is unknown!".

I unfortunately lost the match.

What happens if you beat him?

He wears a cowl, and has no face- it's just stars where his head should be. He carries a claymore sword.

I've been playing this game since it came out, and this is the first time I've ever seen him.

He was in Yun-Seung's level in Egypt.
