for those who really are at a loss, maybe you should research the entire story of why she is known to many people, especially the young.

  1. She was a young erm lady friend of Sen Edward Kennedy who erm drove his car into a lake because he was erm tired?but after a good nights sleep he reported the accident however, after so many hours under water the young lady had somehow died much to everyones surprise.it was rumoured at the time, that the good Senator might have had a drink or two or more but, after such a long time after the crash it was impossible to confirm. The Senator,a brother of two kennedys who were assassinated and a good catholic was divorced by his wife some time after the accident.I don't think he remarried.

  2. She's the girl who died in one of Rose Kennedy's cars after Ted drove it into the pond off the bay.  ...  A lot of cover up, scandal and unanswered questions about her death...

  3. Murdered, in my opinion, by Senator Edward Kennedy.

  4. She was left to drown in a car after Ted Kennedy drove off a bridge.  He was probably intoxicated at the time so that is why he fled the scene of a crime.  Yesterday was the 38th anniversary of her death.  Remember, friend's don't let friend's drive with Kennedy's.

  5. Mary-Jo Kopechne was the young lady who drown while rinding as a passenger in the car with Senator Ted Kennedy who apparently did nothing to save her life after the car he was driving missed a bridge and ran into a tidal pond.  For that matter, he didn't even report to incident until the next day.  Speculation is that he didn't report the incident in a timely manner because he was getting sober.

    Mitigating circumstances:  He was/is rich, he's a Kennedy, he's a democrat.  He's also a first class jerk.
