Jovanović is a Serbian international forward who plays for Standard Liege in Belgium, but who has agreed a deal to join Liverpool in the summer. The 28-year-old has a record of almost a goal every other game in Belgium, having found the net 52 times in 107 appearances, after previous spells with Vojvodina in his homeland, Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukraine and Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow. He scored on his debut for his country in a 2-0 victory over Finland in June 2007, and has gone on to score nine goals in his 23 appearances at international level.
