  1. Don't be silly. You just want help with your homework don't you? Montessori is a fantastic way of teaching which respects the child and works at their personal level of development. If you really want to know, I suggest you go on a course, they can be found all over the uk.

I've read her books. They're excellent. Some of her teaching methods are slightly questionable, but the basics are spot on. Give it a try.

  2. montessori is a teacher and she introduce a new way of teaching the childern on some basis. Dr. Montessori introduce the method a new method of babies.

  3. Montessori discovered a new way for children to learn.  She believed that children's learning should be isolated in order for them to learn more easily.  For example, when small children are being taught shapes using wooden blocks, all the shapes would be the same colour.  That way, they wouldn't have to concentrate on the colours if the object of the exercise was to learn the names of the shapes.

Conversely, when they are learning colours with the aid of wooden blocks, every block would be the same shape, but different colours, to enable them to focus only on that learning objective, i.e. the names of the colours.   In other words, they learn one thing at a time.

It all began with the wild boy of Avaron.  He was left by his parents to fend for himself when he was born, with a pack of wolves. Consequently, as he grew, instead of walking on two legs and talking, he walked on all fours, making the same sounds as the wolves.  It was as a result of that which made her realise that people learn from their environment, and that learning comes more naturally to them when only one thing is dealt with at a time.

I did a Montessori course some years ago, and it was the first thing we were told about.

I am very surprised that if you are from the Montessori family, you haven't read any of her books.  You shouldn't have a problem getting hold of one; try entering Montessori Books on Google,or enquire at your public library.  If you are English, try the British Library.  I hope I've helped.

Just to touch on HDs comment; all children learn by sound these days before they learn the letter name, i.e.  "A" would be "aa".  This form of learning letters is called Phonics, and is not specifically attributed to the Montessori method; all schools have to teach children in that way nowadays.

  4. Montessori is a person who developed a genre of early education.  Motessori schools are unique in that they allow children of different ages to learn together.  Older students help younger when needed.  Learning is usually self-directed, meaning that children have a number of projects to complete and they choose the order in which to do them.  Learning is very hands-on, and children are encouraged to be curious and discover things on their own.  Another difference in a Montessori school is that children learn their alphabet sounds, not letter names.  When a Montessori preschooler sees the letter A, he say "that's an 'ah' "   This speeds up reading tremendously.

A lot of schools claim to be Montessori and aren't.  If you like the idea, make sure the school is accredited.  I taught Montessori briefly in college and loved it.

  5. Here's some information on the Montessori method.

  6. Maria Montessori was born in the 1800's and her ideas came from Rousseau and Pestalozzi as well as Frobel. She belived that children needed prepared play and activities allowing for reptition to become competent in their skills.

She believed that people teaching in the early years should be trained...I personally dont follow Montessori way of early years but can see the benefits. I dont believe she is stupid. For her era she was very brave to come up with these ideas and change the school system. Not many people in those days believed in the benefits of early years!  If you really are in her family you should be proud!!!
