  1. Vlad Tepes was a member of the order of the dragon (dracul) which

his father was a member of . He is, due to Bram Stokers novel been turned into the fictional character Count Dracula. The historical Vlad Tepes was seen by some as hero and by others a sadistic murder .

Hictorical accounts of the man are mostly quite shocking . His main aim during his life was to keep control of Wallachia , avenge his fathers murder  and fight off invasions by the ottoman empire .

  2. No, he wasn't a vampire. He's only linked to vampire's thank's to Bram Stoker's novel "Dracula." Vlad Tepes, also known as Vlad III, Vlad the Impaler, Vlad Dracula, and just simply Dracula, was the Prince of Wallachia. Wallachia was a kingdom in the Southern Carpathias, which are also known as the Transylvanian Alps. Wallachia is today located in modern day Romania.

His best known name, Dracula, means son of the dragon. His father, Vlad II, was known as Dracul, the dragon. Stoker came across the name while reading about Romanian history and decided it would make a great name for his villian. The characters name was originally Count Wampyr. Notice something about that name?  Wampir and Vampyr are two other ways to write vampire. Count Wampyr would have been a bit too obvious as a vampire. Whereas Count Dracula not only has a very foreign sound to it but it also doesn't give away the character's nature right away (and remember, today very few are likely not to already know Count Dracula is a vampire before reading the novel, but back in 1897 when the book was released it would have been a real surprise). More importantly, most folks wouldn't have known a thing about the real Dracula. So Vlad Tepes got lost in vampirism. At least until midway through the 20th century and more folks began learning about the real Dracula.

  3. Vlad Tepes -- VLAD THE IMPALER.  He is supposedly the Historical Dracula.

  4. He defended Europe from the Turks, and used some serious propaganda-he impaled (basically sat people on wooden spikes) thousands of prisoners he captured in battle to warn the Turks against trying it again.

Try googling for his portrait-gotta love that mostouche!

  5. Vlad Tepes (Romanian for; Vlad the Impaler)

Is just a nickname because his favorite punishment method was impaling people. (Thieves, Traitors)

The only thing that would make him a vampire are the rumors that he'd drip bread in a Grail filled with blood.

Bram Stoker made him a vampire, combined with the story of Elizabeth Bathory. (Who really bathed in blood)
