    Wirt C Williams was a Faculty Member at Los Angeles State College. He taught journalism and English.  He was nominated twice for the Pulitzer Prize in fiction for his earlier novels, "The Enemy"  and "Ada Dallas" .   "Ada"  was a multi-million dollar MGM production starring  Susan Hayward and Dean Martin.

    He was born in Mississippi, a graduate of Louisiana State University and the University of Iowa (where he received his Phd in literature)

    Dr. Williams  had a multi faceted career, including stints as a  commanding officer aboard a naval landing ship, a semi-professional boxer, a political reporter, and  editor for  the New Orleans Item.


  2. Don't know if this is the RIGHT Wirt C. Williams, but it may be his grandfather.  I'd bet he was an early Glendora politician or educator -- or both!
