  1. "Woden" and "Wooden" are Germanic spellings for the God known in Scandinavian languages as Odin.  The basic myths are the same, but many names are different, the German "Donar" as opposed to the Norse "Thor" for example.  Naming kids after religious figures is relatively common, look at the number of boys named after Apostles and girls named Mary, or the Hispanic custom of naming boys Jesus, so I wouldn't try setting up an altar to yourself just yet.

  2. Woden is the chap we celebrate every Wednesday;

    it was originally Wodensday, just like Thursday is Thor's

    day, and Friday is Freya's day.

    So you get to celebrate the weekend from the middle

    on! Wheeee!

  3. Woden was king of the gods in Norse mythology. If you have a family tree with Woden in it, I wouldn't believe anything else in it.

  4. And in Mexico, you'll find many people named Jesus. It may have been a god's name but it's a just a NAME. You are not a god.

  5. Woden= Wotan = Odin.

    Old Odin is a lot like some Greek Gods, he's the one who is always invoked as causing any number of mysterious pregnancies.

    In other words, a great ancestor of yours was a b*****d.

  6. the pagan god of plants....woden===>wood
