  1. I dont think kids should cook until they are older.  Help them make rice krispy treats and kiddie snacks.  They will enjoy that!

  2. Get them a kids' cookbook. I had a better homes and gardens one when I was little.  There's all kinds of fun kid-friendly recipes.

  3. Why can't they ask YOU, or their grandmother?    There are many cookbooks available for children's cooking.....

  4. your mom or mother n law

  5. my mom taught me

  6. www.cookingcutie.com

    www.recipeladies.com/kidscooking

    www.easy-kids-recipes.com

    my sisters kids love it

  7. Do you cook at home? If so then just get them involved. I have 2 1/2 yr old twins and they have been cooking with me for about a little over a year. I measure out stuff into the measuring cups, spoons etc... and then let them pour it in the bowl. I also have a stand mixer so they help me turn it on.

You can get them mimi rolling pins (they can be pretty expensive for decent ones though). Make a bread dough that needs to be kneaded. Give them each a little ball and let the roll it on the counter and just play with it. Then bake up thier mini rolls/buns and then let them eat their master piece.

I used to let my nephew (starting at about age 5-when I was around him more) help me do anything and everything from pie dough to mashed potatoes and gravy. Let them add in the butter, seasonings etc and let the 8 yr old run the mixer/masher. When adding seasonings just keep your hand on the conatiner to help control how much gets added.

My mom was great at getting me involved as well, by the time I was 8 we would bake together and I would make my very own cream cheese frosting.

If you don't already cook much at home together then this is a great time to start. Pick up some cook books that are easy/simple for beginners. You can all learn and grow culinarily together.

If you do cook but jusrt want cook books for your kids hten look for tittles/recipes that are cooking WITH kids, not cooking For kids. Cooking for kids are just kid friendly recipes to get your kids to eat more things, cookking with kids obviously gets them in the kitchen with you.

There are 2 big bonus's to teaching your kids to cook at an early age. First is that they will have a life time skill and will be able to take care of them selves when they grown up and move on...and the second and biggest is that you all get to spend quality time together.

  8. your mom
