Actually mermaids are made up by sailors when spending so many days out on the sea. There is no women in the ship, so the sailors fantasy women with their legs as a fish tail. They calm it is real, but it turns out to be a manatee(sea cows). I believe there is a real mermaids, but they don't want to expose themselves to us. When the time is right , they will expose themselves to us. It is believe that they live in the lost city of Atlantis.

there aren't any mermaids in the world today (at least none have been found) and i'm pretty sure that there is no way to become one, unless you're born one.
