doing somewhat of a side project. want some other peoples opinions besides my own.

What issue of civil or human rights is most pressing for your generation, and how could you and your peers go about addressing that issue?

The biggest issue concerning civil and human rights I think for my generation, and I think for the world right now even, is the lack of concern for other peoples' rights. How many people know what is basically going on right now in Darfur? How many people actually want to do something about it? I fear that ignorance is going to be our downfall. I am 24, but I teach 15-18 year old students world history. One of our units is titled Human Rights. They learn about the Holocaust, Rwanda, Darfur, etc, but once their Regents (New York State test), I feel like everything they learn is gone. Apathy is our generation's biggest problem. I think those of us who live in the industrialized nations should not allow such atrocities to occur.
