Well firstly you have a few categories which fall under the best bowlers in the world there's spinners and pace bowlers i'd say the best pace bowler in the world at the moment has to be brett lee due to the fact that his speed and line and length is very hard to play akhtar is quick too but akhtar doesn't have a good line and length as all the tries to do is bowl as fast as he can pluss he took performance enhancing steroids so i'd say he's a cheat and shouldn't be titled the fastest bowler in the world but the future best fast bowler in the world will definetly be ishant sharma as the tall lanky guy has a great speed for his age and he's starting to get his line and length correct even though he's only about 19 he has a lot of years to learn and so far he's learning really quickly the best spin bowler in the world right now is muttiah muralitharan as basically there is no substitute for such a great spinner there was tought competition between warne and murali but since warne has retired he can't be the best bowler in the world right now anymore

Well the best bowler in the world was Glenn MCGrath but in today's date is Brett Lee from Australia who is an excellent bowler with an excellent consistency! He is very responsible where it has got to do with his team. He is a very young & talented bowler with all the kind of nac that a bowler requires.

There's no such thing as the best in the world! I would say the likes of Malcolm Marshall ( he singlehandedly devastated the victorious World Cup Winners of 1983 !) Imran Khan, dear old Kapil, the unplayable Waqar Younis, the charming Wasim Akram, funster Shoaib, the no-nonsense Alan Donald and  our very own Anil Kumble. All of whom gave the world so much entertainment. Ian Botham was probably one of the best all rounders and a great leader of men.

Shoaib Akhtar, is too fat, breaks down all the time and doesn't complete his full compliment of overs in a test match.  He is not in the same league as Brett Lee for stamina and ability to last the whole game and he's banned from Pakistan cricket.  

I always thought he was overrated anyway.

It depends.  If you asked yourself which bowler would be your first choice in an international team across all forms of the game (excluding considerations of all rounders)  it would probably be Brett Lee (I'm a Kiwi).   Vettori is probably the best in the one day game at the moment, but lee is consistently, at the top or there abouts in all forms of the game.  Plus, he is one of the few genuine quick bowlers who are consistent and accurate (sure bond is too, but he is not playing international cricket anymore).    I believe Lee's strike rate is second only to Bonds in ODIs
