Personally I think its Lionel Messi because he is not a hog and is just for the game ( not the money ). He also has amazing skills.

yeah i totally agree, messi is an absolutely mind blowing player his intelligence is incredible, the way he reacts to situations in the way he does. he seems to beat every man he takes on and like you say he is unselfish and he can chip in with the odd belter here and there. i really do believe he is the best player in the world, and everyone in Spain will agree, cristiano ronaldo isn't as good and his overall performance can wane in big games, messi on the other hand seems to leave his best for big games. don't get me wrong ronaldo is a fantastic player but not the best. those who say he is do not watch la liga and therefore judge it solely on the fact they see ronaldo in the premiership. pato is next. i really like him, he is amazing for his age already a key player for ac milan and i do expect greatness for him. podolski, well he had a great world cup but after moving to bayern, he petered out , even so he looked very bright in the euro's so i expect him to play more regularly for bayern with klinsmann now at the helm and i wouldn't be surprised if he has a good season.

Lionel messi no doubt, i dont like him but he is an exceptional player, and anyway what have pato and podolski proved thus far? they are overrated pato still has a chance of becoming one of the best but podolski has no hope what-so-ever!

well they are all good & talented. but all different. they all have a different playing style. um i mean podolski i think is more of a finisher type of striker. messi more of a playmaker. pato more of a getting a great pass & then scoring. also pato has speed, but so does messi. but messi also has the foot skills. podolski isnt as fast nor has the amazing foot skills. so you cant really compare them in my book. not saying they are ALL on the same level im just saying they are different players.

i mean people are answering messi no brainer, but you have to think out of the box. yes messi is amazing but they all three are different [like i said]. but if i had to pick i think it would be inbetween pato & messi.
