  1. smith by far...echem leading rusher ever

  2. emmit

  3. Barry..

    Hes coolio.

And emmit smith is an oldhead.

  4. Barry is much better. Emmitt played for like 20 years and ran behind a monstrous line, and played with great players around him, so he was not the focus of the defense. Barry had none of that. He had a awful offensive line, and no playmakers other than him on his team, so the defense's only focus was to stop Barry Sanders.

  5. Barry Sanders was the man that had all the moves.. couldn't be stopped.. until he stopped himself short by retiring.

  6. Neither

  7. barry sanders did more with less than anyone ever in history of the game so clearly Barry Sanders who played on all lousy teams while Emmit had a quality line up front

  8. Sanders was a way better back, everybody knows that

he had better speed than emmit

he had better agility then emmit

he had better instinct than emmit

he was all around better than emmit

the only reason why he quit was because his team was horrible, he couldnt take being on a losing team his whole career, he was sick of carrying the team

just look at the highlights, barry sanders is and always will be the best runningback of all time

agreed, barry had no o-line to help him and he created plays out of nothing, all emmit did was just run his fat *** through the holes, barry's line didnt create any holes haha, so he did it on his own

  9. Smith bcuz he was a cardinal

  10. barry sanders by far, most people just look at the stats and assume that smith is the best because he holds the rushing title. i mean just compare their olines. dallas had one of the best olines when smith was there. the lions oline was utter c**p. it's amazing what sanders did with such a crappy line and team. everyone knew he was getting the ball and he was still able to make the defense look stupid. sanders is arguably the best running back of all time maybe only jim brown was better. smith doesnt even crack the top 5. had sanders not retired at his prime, he would have smashed the rushing record and smith wouldnt have been able to catch him.

  11. Emmit Smith because Sanders quit on his team.

  12. uummmmmm......

    First instrinct, I take Smith

  13. Barry Sanders was on course to take the all time rushing record, he had a 2000yd season and lets face it he was on some pretty average Lions teams. One of the most exciting players to watch too.

Emmitt was good, well conditioned, smart and tough. But those Dallas teams of the 90's were awesome, the line had multi pro-bowl linemen through that decade.

    Barry Sanders for me.

  14. Emmit Smith was an above average running back that played most of his career for an amazing team.  Barry Sanders was an amazing back that played his entire career with one crapfest of a team.  Sanders avg yds per carry for his career was 5.0 smiths was 4.2.  Smith played 5 yrs more than Sanders and only had just over 3000 yds more.  Sanders retired in his prime due to the continuous losing ways of his team.  Being the polite and honorable guy that he was, never celebrating a TD run and never requesting a trade to a competitive team he just left the game.  If sanders would have played the same number of seasons that Smith did he would have well over 20,000 yds rushing.  And all that for a team as bad as the Lions.  Imagine what smith would have done had he played for the cardinals his entire career, probably not a whole lot and no one would even be mentioning his name in the same sentence with Barry.

  15. Emmitt has all the records and rings.  Barry retired early and was amazing at getting out of a jam.  I say Emmitt if I have to choose, but both are in the top ten of backs ever.

    the best being Walter Payton!
