Kumar Sangakarra

Both are world class batsmen, BUT Kumar Sangakarra has the edge over Jayawardena. Sangakarra not only makes 100's but he makes 200's!! When he is in full form Sangakarra is almost impossible to get out! He makes runs against every team around the world, and quite simply he is one of the best batsmen in the world. Jayawardena is a fine player, BUT he doesnt posses the same ability to stick in and bat for hours like Sangakarra does

2007 world cup semi-finals. Sri lanka were 67/2. Jayawardene came in the 13th over he started with 7 runs off 30 balls. at the 37th over the score was 164/4 and jayawardene was siting on 31 off 64 balls. At the end of the fifty overs jaywardene was 115 off 109 balls. And Sri Lanka finished at 289/5. If you watched that match you know that the effort from Mahela was undeniable and you couldn't top the innings he played that match.

Test series against Australia in Australia. Sri Lanka trail by 506 runs in teh second innings. Sangakarra comes out at 16/1 in the 4th over. Is wrongly given out in the 100th over with 192 runs. Sri Lanka now 368/9. This was a test series that Sri Lanka were quite poor in and Sangakarra was always out there batting on his own. That 192 runs against Australia was his first test century against Australia and his score became the highest individual score by a sri lankan against Australia.

These two performances make this a very hard question. though Sangakarra is more consistent at the momment making him the better player right now. But Jayawardene deserves to be looked up upon just as much as Sangakarra.

You want to compare the captain and the vice captain.Craze man!.Well Kumar is probably the best wicket keeper batsmen in the world.But the reason I prefer him is because of his humility.A  character to be admired.
