  1. Easy. Calzaghe has fought everyone put in front of him from Lacey (KO puncher) to Kessler (Boxer with power)  and dominated both. There is no question that he has fought the tougher opponents and has won. Whereas, Floyd has beaten chumps for some change and still hasn't solidified himself in the welterweight division. Calzaghe on the other hand has dominated his division for quite some time now.

At the end of a career the question invariably resurfaces: Who did he fight ? And if the question is directed at Floyd who will he say ? I'll give you Castillo but who else? Corley?  Baldomir ?, Old Oscar ? Mitchell ?

No Comparison! Calzaghe has fought the best and won albeit in his country but he won nonetheless.

  2. Chuck Norris. No for Real. Floyd "Money" Mayweather.

  3. PLEASE TELL ME THESE PEOPLE ARE JOKING...PLEASE TELL ME THIS QUESTION IS A REPOST FROM APRIL 1ST.( APRIL FOOLS DAY)

FLOYD MAYWEATHER IS HANDS DOWN BETTER THAN JOE CALZAGHE. JOE CALZAGHE HAS FOUGHT ANYONE THEY PUT IN FRONT OF HIM BUT THEY ONLY PUT BUMS IN FRONT OF HIM. LOOK AT HIS RESUME OF FIGHTER AND COUNT THE CHAMPIONS HE'S FOUGHT....AS A MATTER A FACT COUNT HOW MANY PEOPLE ON THAT LIST YOU HAVE ACTUALLY EVEN HEARD OF LMAO. YOU HEARD OF JEFF LACY WHO IS A BUM WITH NO JAB AND NO RING SMARTS, YOU MAY HAVE HEARD OF PETER MANFREDO (FROM THE CONTENDER) WHO ONLY GOT THE FIGHT DUE TO HIS APPEARANCE ON THE CONTENDER. MIKKEL KESSLER ANOTHER TOUGH GUY WHO RACKED UP AN IMPRESSIVE WIN RATIO AGAINST A BUNCH OF BAR PATRONS AND TAXI DRIVERS. AND SAKIO BIKA A FIGHTER WHO NOT MANY HEARD OF UNTIL HIS APPEARANCE ON THE CONTENDER. HE SURE LIKES REALITY SHOW BOXERS. AND THATS IT. AND YOU PROBABLY ONLY HEARD OF 2 OF THESE GUYS....TOPS LOL. DON'T BELIEVE ME???http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum... GO SEE 4 YOURSELF... FLOYD HAS GONE TO 6, YES, 6 DIFFERENT WEIGHT CLASSES, AND DEFEATED THE CHAMPIONS OF EACH ONE, NO FIGHTER IN HISTORY HAS DONE THAT. NO ONE.  FLOYD CURRENTLY HAS 5 BELTS LOL THIS IS RIDICULOUS THAT WE HAVE TO HAVE THIS CONVERSATION BUT PEOPLE REALLY, REALLY, REALLY HATE MAYWEATHER. WHY? YEA HE TALKS TRASH....BUT SO DID MUHAMMED ALI PEOPLE, HE CALLED PEOPLE UGLY AND EVERYTHING. BUT THERE WAS SO MUCH OPPRESSION AT THE TIME PEOPLE NEEDED AN ALI. FLOYD DOES THE SAME THING.... AND HE BACKS IT UP. HE SAYS HE'S GONNA WIN AND HE DOES. LETS BE FAIR. MY GRANDMOTHER USED TO TELL ME "YOU CAN NOT LIKE SOMEONE AND STILL LOVE THEM, YOU CAN NOT LIKE SOMEONE AND STILL RESPECT THEM" LET'S PUT THE PERSONAL FEELINGS ASIDE AND GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.

  4. if joe beats bernard hopkins then joe is way better than mayweather... mayweather has to beat cotto and not a de la hoya.....

  5. Mayweather. Calzaghe has the worst technique I have ever seen. That might fly against some fighters, but definitely NOT against Mayweather. He punishes you for every mistake you make. If I had a nickel for every time Calzaghe drops his hands, I'd never need to work again.

  6. Got to go with joe calzaghe he has fought a better set of competion while they were in there prime such as Kessler, Lacey and Veit

  7. Chuck Norris is better.

  8. The weight differences, and the protected manner in which Calzaghe remained undefeated make comparison difficult.  Mayweather has shamelessly cowered from any real welterweight competition, but at 140 and below Floyd beat everybody who was anybody.  It was only at the higher weights of 147 and above that Floyd grew feathers and started hand picking tailor made opponents.

Joe Calzaghe's whole career has consisted of being spoon fed tailor made opponents by Warren, and Joe has always been the big fish in a small pond.  Warren even waited until age had slowed Hopkins before allowing Joe to even risk a fight against a middle aged champion.  It is amazing, but at this late a stage in Joe's career the Hopkins fight is Joe's first outside of Europe.  At 43 Bernard is a serious threat to Joe, and no real historically great fighter would have feared a old timer, no matter how good they were in their prime.

Floyd's resume between 130 -140 was flawless, had he not moved up in weight, there would be no question.  But the fact remains, he did move up, and he didn't have the tools to dominate the Welterweight division like he did at the lower weights.  Floyd did at welter weight what Calzaghe has done for an entire career, he avoided serious competition.  They both may get away with it, and historically if they both retire unbeaten, only true boxing pundits will know the difference between a "protected titlist" and a true "champion".

So far, Floyd was better at 135, than Joe was at 175.  At 147 Floyd is a joke who took less risk than Warren did with Calzaghe's career.  Calzaghe has time to fight guys like Wright, Taylor and Pavlik, but I don't think it will make that much difference over all to Calzaghe's legacy.   If Joe moves up and takes on people like Tarver, Dawson or one of the other 175lb. champs  then maybe history will look differently at Joe, but even with a victory over Hopkins, the timing of taking on a 43 year old overshadows the accomplishment of beating a true champion.  Joe will always be remembered for being protected.

The main difference is Floyd was a legitimate 135lb. champion, Joe left questions between 160 and 175 that time has magnified.  You can't fault Calzaghe, he beat who they put in front of him, but they should have stepped up his level of competition at 26 not 36 and time waits for no one, when it's gone it's gone.  Their careers were what they were, enjoy what they accomplished, and regret all they could have accomplished but failed to do, such is life.

Over all, historically I think Floyd will look better than Joe, but both will have their plaque's in the boxing hall of fame, so what does it matter.

  9. excuse me...but are you asking who's better at running all around the ring, and scared as h**l in standing toe to toe with the opponent?

    floyd is better...hands down.

  10. BERNARD HOPKINS !!!!!! like he said HE said in his OWN WORDS "I'm not going to let a WHITE BOY beat me"
