Who is boss in a kitchen and what order do other's follow?

The Head Chef, the sous chef (but they are rarely on together),

then the rest of them, veg, starter etc guys are random depending on length of time of service and who gets on with who. You would think the KP is the bottom of the pile, they aren't. They make the kitchen swim and all head chefs know this, be nice to the KP! I suggest just putting your head down until you've worked out the personalities, because thats what counts at the end of the day.

Executive Chef>Chef de Cuisine>Sous Chef>Chef de Gard Mangere>1st Cook>2nd Cook>Everybody Else(line cooks, prep cooks)>Dishwasher. Basically in that order, as with anything there may be some nuance, but nothing gets done without everybody doing there part, one weak link can s***w the whole thing up!
