  1. I've been there 2 times. Beautiful country.

  2. Been there many times.

  3. I go down every few months....Have friends in Antigua...do some business with folks in Chichicastenango ( love market days there) and its only a 3 hr flight from Houston.

  4. I've been there twice. My husband is from there. We are moving there in... about 47 days!!!!!!!!!!

It is beautiful, has lots of scary drivers, mostly mountainous, varied temperatures (our area is average 68-70 F all year!), and filled with tons of wonderful people!!! I cannot wait!

  5. I've been to Guatemala twice and plan on returning MANY more times.  My son is from Jalapa Guatemala.  We absolutely LOVE the country.  It is beautiful and the people as a whole are really friendly.

  6. I am from guatemala, I run my own spanish school,it is a good country

  7. I used to own a bar in Antigua, and I lived there for three years.  Its a great country filled with incredibly nice people (and some bad ones, but hey, that's everywhere).  Great weather, good food, beautiful nature, big cities, nice people, mediocre beer, great times.

  8. I have travelled quite alot in my life and in my opinion Guatemala is the most beautiful, fascinating, magical country on the globe. Many people there have been through the most appalling abuses, in a historical sense, and in some cases continue to suffer on a day to day basis from the effects of poverty, poor healthcare, poor standards of education, discrimination, and corruption, not to mention gang warfare and such unthinkable things such as child abductions for the purposes of selling the children to people who will pay to adopt them. Justice is unknown, so people are forced to take justice into their own hands. All this along with hurricanes, landslides, earthquakes, and the occasional volcanic eruption! Despite all this, the Guatemalan people I have known are among the warmest, most generous, happiest people I have had the good luck to have met. Antigua is a gorgeous, perfect town and to paraphrase Dr. Johnson "A man who is tired of Guatemala is tired of Life". People there love their children and don't try to hide them away, like they do in some of the places I have lived. They know that their children are their future and they cherish them. Coffee is grown despite the shameful fall in coffee prices. The factory workers keep churning out cheap clothing for Walmart and Asda, but they keep going to work and they always find something to smile about. I love Guatemala and I thoroughly admire the Guatemalan people; they should be an inspiration to us all. I can't wait to get back there again.
