Is it necessary that person must belong to the royal family? Or marry within the royal family only?

  1. The title "Lord" or "Lady" or even "Dame" is given quite easily, nowadays. Believe it or not, there's a Web Site that even offers you the chance to get the title, of course, at a cost! Please refer to the link below.

The next link will tell you more about the real thing, though.

    Peace.

  2. A Lord is a member of the peerage and not necessarily a royal, although a royal may be a peer.No titled royals are called "Lord." They are called by their royal titles, although they may also be the royal version of a peer title marquess, earl, viscount or baron.

Members of the peerage who may bear the title of Lord are:

    A duke's eldest son

    A Duke's younger sons

    A Marquess

    A Marquess' eldest son

    A Marquess' younger sons

    An Earl

    An Earl's eldest son

    A Viscount

    A Baron

  3. Lord also goes with elevation to the house of Lords .....

    Lord Andrew Loyd Weber

    Lord Dickie Attenbrough

they were not born into the titles and are examples of life peers the title will die with them

the you also get heriditary peers who are born into their titles

  4. Jesus

  5. Why royalty, even "lowly" judges are addressed as His Lordship ( but only when they are holding court).

Actually the monarch is addressed as Her/His royal Highness. I don't know who gets addressed as lord down the line.

Edit: Actually as chief of British Navy, the monarch is also Lord High Admiral.
