Google did not help me today! Who is going? I at least need to know the top horse per division, i.e., best choice for filly and mare sprint, etc. I've been too busy in college to pay attention. Thanks for answering! Ten pts. to best answer.

  1. The pre-entries for the Breeder's Cup will be officially announced on Wednesday, 10/17. Until then, check here for info on the horses likely to be entered and a summary of their recent performance: http://www.breederscup.com/content.aspx?...

Here is a link to the BC Divisions page where you can see the top ranked horses in each Breeder's Cup division:http://www.breederscup.com/divisions.asp...

  2. Entry deadline is Midday 15th October, so we will not know until after that for sure.

It is no good listing who the top rates horses are in each divison as in many cases the top horses have been injured or retired.

Keep an eye on the Breeders' Cup website and you will get the list of entries as soon as it is made public:

    http://www.breederscup.com

All I can say for sure from our side of "the Pond" is that the Racing Post are reporting that Ballydoyle have said that Dylan Thomas goes for the Turf and Excellent Art is going for the Mile.  Godolphin have not announced definite plans (although it is rumoured that Discreet Cat is going for the new Dirt Mile) and you never know what the French are going to send over.

  3. Here is a link to NTRA's race schedule page for October.  if you scroll down to Oct 26 and 27, you'll see all of the Breeders Cup races.  You can click on each one to see the race page and it will keep you up to date with the developments in each race.

There will be very few horses racing in the Classic...  no one wants to take on Street Sense, Curlin, Lawyer Ron, Hard Spun, Any Given Saturday, and Tiago all in one race.

The juvenile and juvenile turf are both going to be really big.  Old Man Buck is definately going.  Ready's Image is definately not (he's having surgery on his knee).  Majestic Warrior is still undecided.

Ginger Punch is out for the Distaff along with Rags to Riches, leaving Lear's Princess and Lady Joanne as two major contenders.

Nashoba's Key, My Typhoon, and Dreaming of Anna are headed for the Filly and Mare Turf.

Dream Rush is the top horse for the Filly and Mare Sprint.

Dylan Thomas is shipping over from Europe for the Turf to race an absolutely amazing English Channel (check out this awesome move he makes in the stretch in his last race: http://www.ntra.com/races.aspx?id=25585&...

Nobiz Like Shobiz is out despite being among the greatest turf milers around.  Lava Man has had trouble in his last couple starts and will not run in the Breeders.  The Tin Man also will not make the trip to Monmouth.

Greg's Gold is the top sprinter and will face Idiot Proof and Off Duty, but not Diabolical.

You can browse the pages yourself for the rest...  I too have my homework to do.

  4. Heads up to that miami answer, guy knows the Breeders card.  Me, just a horse racing novice, but in the Classic , Curlin', love his look, love that stride, he was my sweetheart out of this last crop of 2, now 3year olds.  Vestiges of Secretariat:, the flash, the breeding class,  that almost stride, (still huge)but alas,  not Sec.  Still  my hope  for the Classic, and he can put it all together sometimes, beat Lawyer Ron to sneak in.  Well, it will still be 2nd best day in racing.

  5. Don't always go for the top horse. There have been many upsets along the years. Take 2004 for instance. That was the first year that I really followed racing. In the Juvenile race there was this horse named Wilko that beat out eventul Preakness and Belmont winner Afleet Alex, and Grade I winners Corinthian and Sun King. I follow racing a lot. If you have ESPN and ESPN2 they are televising the post postion draw on the 23rd or 24th of October. You can go to  www.espn.go.com   to find out exactly what day and time they are showing it.
