Who is going to win Wimbledon 2010?
The million dollar question is who will be the winner at Wimbledon 2010? No one in the world can accurately answer this question as there seems to be a startling amount of competition at Wimbledon this year. Here are few of the usual suspects in the men's category:
Rafael Nadal who is currently ranked as number one in the world after winning the French Open final is considered to be the hot favorite to win the Wimbledon 2010.
Born in Spain, Nadal has so far won over half a dozen Grand Slam Tournament titles. He won his most recent title, the French Open 2010, by beating Roger Soderling in the finals. The Spaniard also won a gold medal in Olympics in 2008 apart from his fifteen titles in the Association of Tennis Professionals masters. He holds a superb record of possessing Grand Slam titles on all court surfaces simultaneously.
Nadal likes to perform behind the baseline. His drop shot is extremely effective with the help of his top quality spin. He is one of those players in the game of tennis who are capable of striking the tennis ball with a high degree of accuracy. Moreover, his athleticism as well as quickness makes him all the more exhilarating. His strongest weapon at the moment is his service games due to the lesser mistakes rate and higher accuracy rate. Nadal’s consistency has been his greatest strength so far along with his smartness to read the game well and change strategy. A player of such class is considered the favourite to win Wimbledon this season considering his current form.
Another favourite, Andy Roddick, born in the United States of America on 30th August, 1982 is the only US player who is listed in the top ten world ranking. Roddick has made his way into the final of four Grand Slam titles. Three of them were at Wimbledon. The 2003 US Open is Roddick is his only Grand Slam Tournament title. Roddick has undoubtedly one of the strongest serves in the world of tennis. His fastest serve, recorded at 155 mph remains the fastest recorded serve in a tennis tournament.
The American tennis star started off his tennis as a baseline player but has now embraced an all court style of play. His huge slices along with spin and an array of angles have provided a lot of diversity to his game. His fitness and strength cannot be underrated at Wimbledon 2010.
Robin Bo Carl Soderling, who was born in Sweden on 14th August 1984, is currently ranked number six in the world after he reached the runner-up position in the French Open final 2010. The Swedish player is the only player so far who has beaten Rafael Nadal in the French Open Tournament.
Soderling started playing Tennis at the age of five. The Swede made his debut in the international tennis in November, 1998. However, the young man in his first junior Tournament was defeated in the very first round. However, Soderling worked really hard on his game and ended his first year of junior tennis with four tournament successes. Continuing the winning momentum, the Swede won three more tournaments in the following year including the coveted Orange Bowl. Energy combined with an excellent serve is his greatest characteristic.  He is an exceptionally complicated server to break.
The year 2010 has seen a lot of progress in Soderling’s style and mental approach. It has helped him to perform on a more consistent basis as compared to the past.  His excellent playing style particularly on the fast tracks along with his heavy ground strokes speaks for itself and can play havoc at the Wimbledon 2010.
