After the time trial in Cholet It's wide open. Valverde lost time while Menchov, Evans, and Kirchen gained. Cunego, Ricco, and Sastre did well to limit their losses and are still in good shape. Things should really start to cook when the mountain stages start.

Of all those names, Kirchen is the one I know least about. He seems too big to hang through the mountains. Menchov lacks explosiveness. Evans has yet to prove himself an attacker. The other guys are born to fly up the steepest hills so watch out.

Doest it really matter this year.  The French did not invite the best rider in the world who is on the best team in the world.

I hope someone from one of the American teams wins especially George Hincape. After all he has done in his career riding for tour winners he deserves to win.

I would not count out Cancellara or Evans.  And I'd like to think the Hincapie will get the green light from his team and also get pissed off enough to light up a few stages.

I'd make a joke about Lance and his girlfriends and his touting energy drinks, but the LAF does too much good work.  Let the man have his fun.

Its been unpredictable from the start, with lots of suprises.  I think its too early to tell...but...

Stefan Schumacher seems to be consistant and  in top form for now,

and other leaders are Kim Kirchen, David Millar, Cadel Evans and Fabian Cancellara.  Ask us again near the end of the tour de France.
