Guatemala is about the size of Tennessee, with about 14 million people, most Maya. It contains 32 distinct Maya groups and languages. It contains about 33 volcanic formations, including one that is the highest point in Central America (4000 meters). The climate varies with elevation, not with distance north to south. 1% of the people own 70% of the land, which produces food for export (coffee, sugar). Guatemala has to import food to feed its people.
