I'm 2 years younger than you and I also have some college education (from 2 schools). I just moved here from the East Coast. From everything I've seen and experienced, I've came to the conclusion that you have to be Mexican in order to become employed in the South Side of Chicago. I'm very well-spoken with a very polished resume. I have a lot of customer service, cash handling, and even billing experience. I can go for the billing jobs making from $13-17 per hour or I can get a S****y job as a Cashier or Customer Service Rep (e.g. behind the desk of a market). I'm looking for both, the high paying and the S****y job and nothing. Whenever I ask people for applications, they barely understand me and make me repeat myself. Some give me dirty looks like I'm gonna take there job or something. Everyone I've came into contact with while living here is not very intelligent and definitely not good with their jobs. Very poor customer service at places I've shopped at and browsed for jobs. Not to mention that a lot of people are horrible drivers here. Is everyone drunk or on drugs?? It was around 4AM on a Friday when I was driving/moving to Chicago. A lot of people were tailgating (I wasn't even driving in the left lane and I was going 5-10 over the speed limit), flashing their high beams, and just driving aggressively. Sorry for the ramble; I should definitely stop. That's just my experience while being here for a month. Makes me wanna go back home. I'd probably have more opportunities.
