Apparently there has been a rash of unexplained deaths occurring right after the police arrest people, particularly young men. The men die in their cells and gosh, the spanish police have no idea what is causing it.

Of course, there may be reasons that the Spanish authorities would not be comfortable discussing.

...and that the rest of the European community would like to keep under the rug.

We all know that even after Franco, Spain has remained fairly repressive, particularly noted for the torture and uncharged detention of Basque Separatists.

Interesting stuff... but probably not too Americans. Maybe someone on this board has something to offer.

  1. I wonder if that brute of a cop Detective Amaral from the Portuguese police, sacked over the McCann case, has now joined the Spanish police which could account for these incidents

  2. The article says the cause may be an elevation of cathecholamines from stress which leads to fibrilation. One of the most familiar cathecholamines is adrenaline. The article also mentions that this sort of thing happens to animals who are forcibly placed into captivity. But, then again, I read the entire article.
