  1. That would be Galileo Galilei. He invented the scientific method, namely using experiments to refine and justify his theories, and used it to describe natural phenomenon quantitatively (using mathematics) rather than qualitatively (using words).

He is also know as the Father of Observational Astronomy and Modern Science and Modern Physics. His great discoveries was the mathematical description of uniform motion, showing that gravity was a force that caused constant acceleration, the moon was not a perfect heavenly sphere - it had blemishes of meteor impacts, and that jupiter had it's own moons among other findings which supported a sun-centered solar system. He also contributed to technology development, significantly vast improvements on the telescope.

For his findings and enthusiastic proclamation of them, the Catholic church (namely, the pope) tried and found him guilty in a papal court, called him a heretic, and placed him under house arrest for life.

    Hope that helps.

  2. Galileo Galilei, I suppose!!!! Visit this:

  3. Francis Bacon

  4. Einstein

  5. EINSTEIN?

  6. Galileo is a good answer as I have heard of him referred to as the father of science.  In truth, this is more an expression of adulation and many people contributed to the current modern practice of science.  Francis Bacon was instrumental, Karl Popper also.

  7. I also thought it was Galileo....i am pretty sure it was for devloping the scientific method......as prior to that there was a lot of thinking and theory as opposed to actually testing those ideas in a scientific way.
