Who is leading 2011 Major League Baseball season in Runs - Part-1
The Baseball regular season for the year 2011 is on its way towards the final stages and there are some players, who have dominated this season with their batting practices. All of the players have contributed tremendously to take their club into the top
positions in American League, National League and Majors.
Every year, some players destroy and some are destroyed, a few surprise the manager and others bewilder spectators but what is going on this season is something unmatched in Major League history. We can judge the contribution of a player by various ways
but the most exciting way is how much someone played his part with the scores.
Some players have better batting averages and hits, while others have more home-runs and hits. However, what is important for any team is how many runs the player is generating to take his team into a winning situation.
Curtis Granderson
The New York Yankees’ Curtis Granderson playing one of his memorable season of all time with his gritty hitting and shattering shots. The 30-year-old veteran batter, who plays as a centre-fielder for the Yankees, proved him a giant for the opponents in almost
every game, in which he landed to take on them.
Granderson has played 459 at-bats and scored 113 runs on 129 hits, including 20-second bases and 10 third bases. His scores also comprises of 34 home-run, one of the most home-runs of 2011 regular season.
Some experts are of the view that it will be a tough task for him to save his first position with the Toronto Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista catastrophic chasing speed. However, launching four home-runs in his last seven games, Granderson has removed all rumours
regarding his slowing performance.
Granderson is prominent in all aspects of the game, as he has scored 97 RBIs, major league leading RBIs until now and looking at his form, one can predicts to have more than 40 RBIs more until the end of the season.
Although his averages are little low than other players like Jose Bautista and Jacoby Ellsbury, who are also in the journey of most run scorers, his high slugging averages-.590-has turned down all the criticism against him. He has scored three runs in four
games while two runs in 24 games.
Jose Bautista
The Toronto Blue Jays’ power hitter is still on the second place, with his 90 runs. This performance has proved that last year was not a chance year for him instead. He has proved his class creating some special hits in the pressure situations.
The right-hand hurler of the Canadian club has entered the field for 393 at-bats, in which he blistered 124 hits to get 90 scores for his club. Although his runs are considerable short than the Yankees’ colossal, he is leading the majors with his 35 home-runs
for the second straight year. Last year he has launched career best 54 home-runs, and this speed can earn him even better record until the end of the 2011 season.
He has 79 RBIs and 20-second bases but still have only one third base, which he needed to improve to be a master slugger of the 2011 season.
With his performance increasing day-by-day, the 30-year-old is giving clear message to his opponents that he is coming to grab the top spot with his spell bounding hitting. The only thing he needs to improve is his ability to steal bases as he has one of
the lowest numbers of steals in the League. Having an eye just for homers alone will not make him the best player in this season, according to experts.
NOTE: This ranking shows records until the end of August 20, 2011.
