Hey everyone I went to log into my account on my computer and it gave a message I couldn't read it without my contacts but it said contact local administrator and set my account back to default settings but didn't do it to anyone else's. All of my files are gone, movies, word documents, music. How did that happen and why?

  1. It could be a corrupt user profile if it's not a virus.  Go into the control panel and users and make sure that you are an administrator on the machine.  Then check to see if you can see any of your files in your profile.  Open explorer.exe and goto your local drive and then "Document and Settings", you should see a folder with your loggin name.  Search through it to find any documents that you thought were missing.  If you find them, then it's likely a profile corruption.  If not, it could be a virus.

If you do find them, make copies of anything that you need to keep.  Then delete the profile and create a new one.

  2. Sounds like you have a virus.  You need to take your computer to an IT person to get it fixed.

  3. Their are loads of messages with "Contact Local administrator" or "Contact Network Administrator" These are the people who control your computer so if  you are the administrator then your the local or network one. Now files shouldn't get deleted uless a virus or formated completly. Try logging in again and see if the same message appears. If it does then shut your computer off completey and reboot keep press F8 until you get the advance boot menu. Next select Safe mode. Wait for it to boot up all windows files and try loging in again. If you can log on BACK-UP all your files. Once thats done go on the internet (google) and type the error message in google this should give you a better definition. If you still cant log on then need to know what the error says.
