Who is making money when the price of gas is soo high?

Question

Every thing is shipped by truck, as far as goods in stores and supplies. We rely on this here in the US. I have to wonder, besides the oil companies, who makes money in this economy? I live in a rural area and people are worried about having enough money to get to work. Most don't work locally.

Oil companies naturally.  Just about everyone else is on their own ;(        Other type business are passing their increased expenses to the consumer either by increased prices or surcharges.   One possible answer is to drive less, or downsize your  vehicle.    I really feel sorry for the independent truck drivers,,,the owners/operators.

Even the oil companies don't necessarily profit and may even lose out. The fact is, all the "easy oil" has been found, therefore the cost of extracting oil is constantly getting higher and higher because they have to find it in harder to reach places.

The cost of extraction is passed onto the consumer. The consumer in the long run consumes less, and eventually, even the oil companies lose out.

No one wins from higher gas prices, but it's inevitable - our society in general has been paying too little for oil, and now we are paying for it ten fold.

Perhaps the only winner is the environment. In the long term, despite all the necessary pain, lessening our dependence on oil is going to be better for the planet.

The oil companies (look at their record profits), the oil suppliers (OPEC), and the federal and state governments (taxes on gas provide a good bit of their funds).  Oil speculators are also making money off the high price of oil, too.

Unfortunately, as long as people are willing or feel they HAVE to pay the high price of gasoline, these groups will continue to make money.
