  1. nah.......i do not think either of them are arrogaunt.. they are both very proud and confident of what they can do..... and they have alot to be happy about... and more then half of everyone here would be the same way... like it or not!

  2. nadal

  3. Oh even though I am not a Nadal fan he is not arrogant. Djokovic has got to be one of the most arrogant players out there. He's won one major and yet he's acting like he's the hottest thing out there. His loss to Nadal is something I really enjoyed because I think he needs to be reminded that he is not even close to being as good as Rafael or Roger. I also don't know if Rafa isn't popular with the other players but if that's true I don't think it has anything to do with him being arrogant and more so with the fact that his English still isn't all that great. He's improved it a lot but it isn't all that good.

  4. I've never seen Nadal act arrogant. He is always classy on the court. He does those fist pumps and "Vamos!" to pump himself up, not to rub it in to the opponent. I can't say Djokovic is arrogant either, but I really don't like him for some reason...

  5. I think its safe to say that Nadal is an all around amazing player. I think most people find Nadal arrogant because he tries to speak English and lets face it, even though his english has improved, its still horrible. He just says the wrong words but i doubt he tries to be arrogant.  Djokovic i think IS an arrogant player. Most explain it as emotional or just really into it, but some of the things he does, the little things, are the things that shows it. like unneccesary facial expressions. Also, i find it kinda bad that he thinks that equal pay for women and men in Wimbledon final is unfair and he is completely against it.

  6. Djokovic is has big time arrogance. He is worse than how Andy Roddick used to be when he won his lone grand slam title at the US Open in 2003. So I would say Djokovic is way more arrogant than Rafa. Infact, I dont find Rafa arrogant at all.

  7. Well, Nadal isn't arrogant outside of the French, but he takes more time to set up than all the other players.

And as a fellow tennis player I can tell you that's annoying and unsportsmanlike because he thinks he can take all the time he wants.

Secondly, Novak is better than Nadal overall so he has more leeway, when Nadal makes a U.S. Open semifinal, then maybe he can do those screams with the fist pump, but until then, he should use up as much time as is ALLOWED ( 20 seconds ) inbetween plays and keep his mouth shut until he wins his Slam, which outside of the French hasn't happened.

  8. Nadal is a modest man, reserved and seemingly shy. He is polite and generous in his praise for other players.

He apologised to Federer for 'whopping' him so convincingly.

    Definition of Arrogant -

Full of unwarranted pride, self importance, conceit, undue claims of self importance, rude.

    Sound like any-one?

Sounds like Novak Djokovic to me.

  9. Noone of them is arrogant. And to those who say that Novak isn't even near to Roger's game might want to look at the final of RG where Fed won only 4 games to Nadal, while Djokovic had a set point against him and took 12 games. Not to mention that he managed to stay a whole hour longer than Fed.

  10. I'd have to say Djokovic, it's all that serbian pride!

Sometimes I'm like "OK dude cool it, you're not that good"

ok well maybe he is, but he's got to conceal it better.  It makes him look worse when he loses.

  11. i think novak djokovic is very confident with himself and arrogant too.

  12. rafa is not arrogant, djoko is

  13. i think djokovic...

    bye

  14. I don't know either of them personally, so I can't say for sure.  Nadal seems to give and receive more respect than Djokovic, though.  Djokovic (as well as his family and entourage) seems pretty arrogant.  The other part of it is that Nadal's been in the public eye for 4-plus years, and there's a sense that he's paid his dues.  He's entitled to a little arrogance every now and then.  Djokovic has only really been in the public eye for about a year, so he hasn't yet backed up any of his results.  That counts for something in the tennis community.

  15. what is M C talking about???? Djokovic being NOWHERE near as good as Roger and Nadal?? true, Novak has a losing record against both thus far, but he's beaten both twice, and like Nadal, he has won 1 of the particular Slams-Australian-and reached the final of 1 other-U.S. and uh, he absolutely handled Federer in the Aussie semis. so nowhere near as good as either 1 is nowhere near correct. he's only 21, and his rivalry with Nadal with be entertaining for years to come. he's extremely confident, as his loose attitude at the U.S Open last year showed. i think Rafa is just more naturally reserved.

  16. It is always surprising to me when people post on here that Rafa Nadal is arrogant. I'd say the general consensus is that he isn't but there are still enough people posting that he is arrogant to make me wonder what exactly it is that they are seeing? I try to put myself in their position and understand.

Ok,some of this is coming from Djockovic or Federer extremists who would define arrogance as the mere fact that Rafa can and does beat their favourite player. But, there are also sincere and fair-minded people who genuinely believe that Rafa's words and actions denote arrogance.

I have listened over 3 or 4 years to countless after-the-match,courtside interviews with Rafa in Spanish(I am a native tri-lingual speaker and one of my languages from birth is Spanish)and there is no way that anything he says after winning or after losing can be interpreted as arrogant. I have also noticed that what he says in these interviews is only PARTIALLY translated into English or French and usually a bit altered. I have also listened to his interviews in English and I have realised  (because all the gifts God gave him were for tennis and not as a linguist) that when he tries to express certain sentiments in English, he often chooses the wrong words and gives the wrong impression and doesn't get across what he is trying to say.

By now, everybody should have realised that the fist pumping and the "vamos" are directed towards himself. In this last RG in the 3rd set  it was so obvious that he was keeping a damper on himself and trying not to do any overt pumping. For Christ's sake, when he won the match and his 4th  RG title only a few days after his 22nd birthday his reaction wasn't that of an exhuberantly happy young boy! He seemed almost sad that in order to do such a feat he had had to whip Fed in such a way. If anyone has thought up until today that Rafa is arrogant, yesterday's performance after the match should have proved ONCE AND FOR ALL just how modest and respectful of others this amazing player is! Basically,Rafa is still a very shy youngster whose natural character tends towards reserve.

He has incredibly good, exhuberant health and high spirits which he has channeled into his sport but ,occasionally, they break out - but less and less. Remember how he used to leap and jump all over the court after EVERY SINGLE good shot? How long has it been since he has done that? Ages!

Djokovic's probem is cultural and also that he is an extrovert who enjoys talking and clowning around and he doesn't always realise where the limit is between humour and disrespect, communication and being a loud mouth,self-confidence and bragging. He'll learn;he's an OK kid at heart. His family are a bit of a pain but perhaps they haven't had the benefit of an education which could have  taught them how to behave in this kind of situation.

Every article I have ever read points out that it is Djokovic whose popularity is questioned in the locker room. His impersonations are especially not well liked there.

  17. Nadal is not arrogant, he is more modest than anything. Its so obvious to see his modesty.

  18. nadal is arrogant and snooty in person.

  19. These two gentlemen are a bit arrogant but so what, they have earned the right to be arrogant. They are Grandslam winners, they are the best that their country have to offer. They are very talented. Many people at my school last year and work this year have no talent and they still are arrogant. Just look around you, you will find many arrogant people with no talent. Look in the mirror, you will see one, a self proclaimed genius...lol...
