  1. This question assumes we were ever at peace at some point.  That is only true if you believe in the creationist belief of the beginning of mankind; and only for the original two.  And not even their whole lives.

And at no other time have we ever been fully at peace; or even all that close to it.

  2. Neither. Life in ancient times was short (average age of death 30) and often brutal (trauma to bone and evidence of warfare is often found in ancient burials.) The whole world was a frightening place to early man, filled with hostile gods and spirits that needed to be placated so that the sun would return each day and the crops grow. most people suffered ailments such as rickets, arthritis, tooth absess and so forth. A small injury could mean quick death.most of your children would die in infancy.

b  But I suppose early man also thought this was his 'place' in the scheme of things,so he may have been more at peace with HIMSELF than we are today,we who always desire more than we really need.

  3. As we have progressed from "primitive" to cubical jockey we have seen the end of tribal communities, the end of the porch, the birth of TV's in multiple rooms, and rampant depression and dissatisfaction.

a recent study confirmes we are no happier for all our security and luxuries.....but maybe safer.

  4. tribal man

  5. The one with a tribe.

  6. I see your point but although we are a highly stressed society we generally don't run the chance of being attacked by a tiger on the way to work. If you see my point?

  7. Early man for sure.

Very few experience true peace these days.

Most today don't even know what peace is. To them it is some kind of mirage that can be made real by war.

Peace can only be found in God, it can't be mandated.

  8. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

  9. I agree with above, the end of the porch was a major mistake.  I think that early man was more or less happy as long as they had loved ones.  I stress trying to figure out why you guys use a "s" and we a "z."
