Who is more popular/famous - Anne Rice or Stephenie Meyer?

That would largely depend upon who you asked - if you ask mom (or just about any woman over 30), then the answer will probably be Anne Rice. If you ask anyone still in high school or wearing a training bra, then the answer will be "Stephenie Meyer. Who is Anne Rice?"

I would guess more men will also be familiar with Anne Rice than Stephenie Meyer.

Although I haven't read any of the Twilight books, I think I have gotten the general gist of the books as well as the quality of the writing through YA. If you have to choose an author - pick up an Anne Rice book before even thinking about getting a Stephenie Meyer book. The writing will be much better, the stories richer and the characters more realistic, at least as vampires go.

Oh - and Twilight Freak - Anne Rice, with 27 books published and at least one major movie with actual stars has surely had more than 4 bestsellers, 90% of which are sold to teenagers.

I think that right now it would probably be Stephanie Meyer just because she is more recent. Anne Rice has quite a following though and I prefer her Interview With a Vampire book to any of the Twilight books.

I think Anne Rice has more staying power than Meyer. Twilight is a phenomenon that will eventually burn out, to some degree. I'm not a huge fan of either, although I've read both authors' books, but Rice is by far the more accomplished author. She changed the face of an entire genre. So no matter how many people love Stephenie Meyer now... in 30 or 40 years, it will still be Rice that they read.

Stephenie Meyer definately! She has had 4 best sellers and her books are getting made into movies. Stephenie has also had much more publicity

anne rice would be popular back then when her vampire books like interview with the vampire was out with her movie, but stephenie meyer since her books are coming out  & now with that movie of hers.  I would say she's popular for now.
