  1. no one is next otherwise they get it big time right where it hurts. if  russia is in the proccess of testing usa and nato streangth and resolve in light of iraq afganistan and the nuclear issues with iran and north korea they could be making a big suicidal mistake if they think we are weak and helpless!!!

  2. who cares??? If you want to know so bad go to Russia and ask them

  3. At this time the most likely target is Ukraine. After invasion of Georgia Russia repeatedly accused Ukraine of helping Georgia, supplying arms(the fact that most of the terrorist in the world are armed by Russians doesn't count) to Georgian army, especially S-200 anti aircraft systems. Which later proved to be yet another lie of Russian propaganda. However, all that shows the direction of their next attack.

Whether or not it will become reality depends on west today.

Russia won't risk attacking NATO country, thus Poland and Baltic countries are out of question. Once Ukraine joins NATO, that's off the list too.

To GARISH - Out of curiosity, do you work for Russian media? You repeatedly post about 2000 civilians killed by Georgians, although HRW reported 44 dead including civilians and military. And 44 is the number of dead after 3 day long fighting in Tskhinvali which was bombed  not only by Georgians but also 200 Russian airplanes.

Russian army is so incompetent that it's unable to take a single picture or video of 1600 or 2000 dead for 8 days?

Russia is a peaceful country, yeah right :) Invaded Georgia, promised Poland, Ukraine and several other countries to nuke them... That's only summer 2008. Extremely peaceful record.

Nobody ever proved that Georgians either attempted or committed genocide of Ossetins either in 1992 or 2008.

Single photo, documentary, any proof please?

    What is proved:

    1) Genocide of Ingushs in 1992 by North and South Ossetins with the help of Russians.

    2) Genocide of Georgians, Greeks and Armenians in Abkhazia by Abkhazs, Chechens and of course Russian army.

    3) Continued Genocide of Chechen people by Russian army in  last two Chechen wars.

  4. Ukraine and poland has probably been in their sights for a while now...

they have gotten away with Georgia due to the ineptitude of the western people but many of us are ringing the alarm and now many are aware of them..

they were tempting and undermining Georgia for a while:

Georgian drone has been shot down by Russia MIG-29

    Russian Jet shoots Georgian UAV

they will pay the price in the form of us moving into Poland and Ukraine more..

in a way THEY Screwed up! gave us an excuse to go in there into poland and Ukraine more....

crime does not pay russia it does not! learn your lesson!

  5. The U.S will be if they don't mind their own business.

  6. Nobody for the short term. This action while justified, was a calculated decision. The Russians do not make rash decisions, they calculate everything out, hence why they are so good at chess, they knew that nobody could do anything to them over Georgia, and that any consequences would pail to the reward of getting control of any potential pipe line. Also they know their history as well as anyone, in fact due to how bad they suffered in WW2 they know it better than most. They knew the Western world would play the role of Chamberlain this time, they are not eager to find out which country will play the role of Poland.

  7. The Baltic States possibles aiming south towards Mongolia, Kazitstan, or even Northeastern China. You never know it could be the United States or Great Britain lets hope its not though that will be after the regain power in the baltic states and the areas to the south of Russia.

  8. Russia did not hit anyone, they came to the aid of south ossetia. Russia did a good thing and your media is lying again.

  9. Most likely the Ukraine or Poland.  Either one will get them in a lot more trouble than Georgia.  Unfortunately our spineless 'leaders' have given Russia the message that they can take small nations with impunity, which will just encourage Putin to push his luck even more - sound familiar?

  10. Ukraine or the Baltic States

  11. You're mixing Russia an US.

In contrast to US, Russia is a peaceful country that acts in self-defense and respects the international laws and UN.

It was Georgia which attacked the peaceful town at night, killing about 2000 civilians, and more than 10 Russian peacekeepers.

Georgian already tried to do genocide in Ossetia (in 1921, 1991). But this failed. In 1992 sides agreed to peace (which Georgia broke by invading S.Ossetia) with Russia as the mediator and the peacekeeper and approved by UN.

So as the peacekeeping force and according to its obligations Russia had to protect civilians.

  12. Russia doesn't have a "hit list".  Georgia struck first, and they made the mistake of thinking that Russia wouldn't get involved and that if Russia got involved that they wouldn't act like Russia.

From what I know of the situation (which is what I know from the American "news" which has quickly become more entertainment than news) South Ossetia wanted to rejoin with North Ossetia, a Russian province, and Georgia didn't like that, so they attacked South Ossetia.  Russia came to South Ossetia's aid, but overdid it just a bit.

Once the situation in Georgia is fully resolved, Russia will probably go about its own business, but with the world knowing that they're still militarily relevant.
