  1. I went to Sierra Leone about four years ago for three months, taught english (really badly) and volunteered in a childrens hospice, Cause I went through the red cross everything was paid for including my part work visa and residence (which was food and board at a local families house), but it came at the expense of a really weak wage. Its not about that anyway, I was paid hourly at £3.20 but it never once bothered me.

It depends who you go through as to what you get out of it, enjoy.

  2. I am a UK teacher, working in an international school in Cairo. I get paid about £2100 (with a management point) a month, and don't pay tax. That includes £200 rent allowance a month. Some schools pay all accommodation, and some pay more than what I get. Have a look on the TES website for all the positions. People are interviewing around now. I also have better holidays, though some really long half terms!Oh, we also get a return flight home every year and a gratuity at the end. Contracts are renewable every year so we can stay as long as we want (so long as they agree!). If you're looking to save some money, I'd defo recommend it!
